Surrounding Area
Garstang

The nearby town of Garstang is the gateway to some of the finest countryside in the North West, with many woodland walks, canal towpaths and scenic riverbanks.  Situated just two miles away from Little Stubbins, Garstang has many traditionally run shops.  Many good restaurants, pubs, cafés and take-away outlets are situated in and around Garstang.

Lancaster Canal

The Lancaster canal is only 200 meters from Little Stubbins and is easily accessible.

Lancashire Cycle Way

Cyclists are just 400 yards from the Lancashire Cycle Way.  There is storage space at Little Stubbins for cycles and drying facilities for clothes.

Forest of Bowland

The nearby Forest of Bowland was nationally recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1964. Bowland offers a wide range of unspoilt landscapes and visitor facilities. Try the Crook O Lune or Gisburn Forest for a family bike ride, or visit the Bowland Visitor Centre at Beacon Fell and explore its nature trails and the surrounding landscape. Relax in one of Bowland's many restaurants and pubs.

The Forest of Bowland is the eleventh largest of the 40 designated AONBs in England and Wales. Situated mainly in the county of Lancashire, part of the area does extend into North Yorkshire. The area is essentially upland country consisting of a plateau of rolling hills and moors which are dissected by deep valleys. In the north, Bowland consists of a block of gritstone moors extending from about 183M to 550M above sea level. In the south of the area the fells are more detached.

Take in Bowland's village cafés and farm shops, its countryside sites and wildlife, or the wide-open fells and footpaths… on bike, by foot or horse.

The Fylde and its Coast

Take some time out and explore the wonders of the beautiful countryside that surrounds Lytham and St Annes. Largely unspoiled and dotted around the Fylde, you’ll find hamlets, small villages and market towns, each one with their own special attraction and many tracing their history back hundreds of years.
